About the Company -

I created SustainablyManaged with my best friend to spread the word about the greener way of life - from environmental issues in the news, to sustainable practices, to climate change in entertainment.

We post content and foster community on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest focused on the ways that we as individuals can make an impact in the world around us, and we recently expanded into consulting! We work with small brands, non-profits, and impact organizations to guide them in the ways of social media, branding, and beyond.

About the Project -

SustainablyManaged is an ongoing labor of love. We post 3-4 times a week across multiple platforms, focus on educational and topical content, and foster community throughout various social media networks.

I am the lead static content designer, and I create regular short- and long-form posts about sustainable living, climate news, and more in the SustainablyManaged style and color palette.

I am also the lead social media & branding consultant, and I work with clients to help them understand algorithms, simplify social strategy, create interesting and consistent visuals, and feel confident in their tools and abilities to plan out effective social content.

Creating the Visual Brand -

I designed SustainablyManaged’s visual aesthetic from scratch, inspired by the 1970’s, summer camps, a cartoony style, and a bright color palette.

From the logo to every static post on our feed, I crafted our visuals to be shareable, fun, and eye-catching in a way that felt young and trendy, but still trustworthy and informative. Choosing main fonts with a 70’s, simple, and handwritten feel and using cute, cartoon-like elements are an important part of the SustainablyManaged visual identity.

The logo itself was inspired by a patch that might be found on a scout’s uniform or at a summer camp- an important element on our upcoming website!

Process & Strategy -

We created SustainablyManaged to educate and inspire others to live green, learn about the environment, and get involved in the world around them.

Our biggest goal has been to become a resource for accurate, helpful, and informative content about climate change and the natural world. We actively work to reach a wide audience with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lifestyles to inspire as many people as we can about the power of knowledge and individual action.

I’ve helped work towards our goals by:

  • Designing the logo, color palette, and standard graphic style to create a strong and visually appealing brand identity

  • Using my research and copywriting skills to create informative, accurate static posts, and using my design skills to build them

  • Focusing on creating simple, digestible, and shareable content

  • Connecting climate change and environmental action with real world events

  • Collaborating with other companies and influencers in the environmental advocacy space

  • Fostering a friendly and passionate community through comments, DMs, and interactive stories across multiple platforms
